In partnership with The Nature Conservancy of Louisiana, Ecolab supports the Loch Leven project, working to restore and enhance 10,000 acres which provide critical refuge to the species that call the wetlands home. This project aims to provide 12.1 billion gallons of flood storage capacity to local communities. The surface water will recharge the aquifer, and the community benefits from this in the form of drinking water. The plant's 200 employees work to produce industrial water treatment products for use in boilers and cooling towers, and wastewater treatment products and process chemistries for use in the papermaking, mining, petroleum, steel, power generation, and food and beverage industries.
Manufactured pounds of finished products at Nalco’s Garyville facility decreased 10% in 2023 when compared to 2022 production. The facility manufactured 226,891,000 pounds of finished product in 2023 and 252,2178,000 pounds of product in 2022.
Total emissions at the Garyville facility decreased significantly in 2023. Total emissions were 64,069 pounds compared to 138,954 pounds in 2022. Air emissions increased in 2023, totaling 1,254 pounds compared to 1,224 pounds in 2022. Water releases decreased in 2023 at 534 pounds compared to 1,016 pounds in 2022. Off-stie transfers in 2023 amounted to 61,800 pounds, a decrease under 2022 off-site transfers of 137,206 pounds. However, 455 of all off-site transfers were recycled, reducing the actual off-site release to 33,860 pounds. In 2023, Nalco's Garyville facility contributed $1.1 million to the St. John the Baptist Parish tax base, approximately $21.8 million in payroll, and the value of facility purchased totaled $101 million.
